About this Aquamarine bracelet

Roman sailors carried aquamarine as a talisman for safe passage and clear speech with harbour authorities — the stone has been associated with calm articulation under pressure ever since. The pale blue tone is the visual cue: a glance at the wrist before a keynote, a salary conversation, a difficult parent-teacher meeting.

Teachers wear it through parent-evening week in Reduit; lawyers wear it on cross-examination days; founders wear it on investor pitches. It moves through wedding speeches and eulogies alike — anywhere the wearer needs to find their voice and hold it. Each bracelet is handcrafted in our Pointe aux Sables atelier. 2187.

History

In ancient lore, aquamarine was believed to be the treasure of mermaids and was traditionally carried by sailors to protect against shipwreck and ensure a safe, prosperous voyage. The ancient Romans also associated the crystal with the purification of water and emotional clarity. The stone's name is a direct translation from the Latin words 'aqua' and 'marina', meaning water of the sea.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is aquamarine durable enough for daily wear?

Yes. Aquamarine is a beryl, the same family as emerald, sitting around Mohs 7.5–8 — among the harder bracelet stones we offer. Office days, school runs, long commutes are all fine. The three things to avoid are direct contact with perfume, prolonged sun on a hot dashboard, and the lagoon.

How do I cleanse it in Mauritian humidity?

No water — not because the stone minds, but because the cord and any metal findings do. Wipe the beads with a dry microfibre cloth. For energetic cleansing, leave the bracelet under moonlight overnight, or rest it on a soft moonlight. Some wearers like to leave it briefly on a windowsill before a big presentation, as a private ritual.

Which bead size suits a corporate setting?

The 10mm beads are bolder and work for creative, founder, or weekend wear. Many wearers own one of each and pick based on the day.

Will aquamarine help if I'm not someone who wears crystals?

Honestly: the bracelet itself doesn't speak for you — you do. What the stone offers is a tactile prompt, a small physical thing to touch before you walk into the room. That prompt works whether you believe in the tradition or treat it as a private cue. We've sold a lot of these to people who would never describe themselves as 'a crystal person'.
