About this Bloodstone bracelet
Bloodstone — green chalcedony marked by iron-oxide inclusions that burn rust-red against the dark matrix — was known to medieval Europeans as heliotrope, the stone that turns towards the sun. Crusaders carried it as a talisman of courage and physical endurance; ancient Babylonian warriors pressed it into their palms before battle. What makes it distinct from other grounding stones is its historical duality: traditionally believed to keep the wearer both physically rooted and mentally alert — grounded, but not sluggish. The iron in the stone ties it to the earth; the vibrant green connects it to sustained life.

History
In antiquity, bloodstone was known as heliotrope and was traditionally believed to turn the reflection of the sun red when placed in water. During the Middle Ages, Christian tradition adopted the stone, asserting that the red inclusions were formed from the blood of Christ falling upon dark green earth at the crucifixion. This association cemented its traditional legacy as a stone of noble sacrifice and courage. The alternative name heliotrope translates from Greek to 'sun-turning'.
