About this Ruby bracelet
In ancient Asian traditions, ruby was historically placed beneath the foundations of buildings to grant enduring good fortune and protection. Ancient Hindu texts considered it the king of precious stones, associated with the sun and the force of life itself. In traditional energetic practices, ruby is firmly linked to the root and heart chakras — the energetic centres governing physical stamina and the drive to live fully. It is historically believed to replenish depleted vitality, reignite the life force, and sustain the wearer through prolonged periods of high demand.
We regularly prepare this vivid red piece for intensive care nurses managing back-to-back shifts at local hospitals and marathon runners in Grand Baie pushing through the final months of a gruelling training programme. Carefully strung on durable stretch elastic at our Pointe aux Sables atelier, the bracelet is designed for continuous, seamless daily wear. The deep red of the beads provides a visually energising anchor, prompting the wearer to draw on their own reserves of life force rather than reaching for external stimulants.
History
Highly revered in ancient Asian cultures, ruby was historically laid beneath the foundations of Burmese buildings to grant good fortune and protection. Ancient Hindu traditions considered it the king of precious stones, frequently offering it to deities to ensure rebirth as an emperor. European royalty traditionally set the stone in coronation rings to symbolise passion and divine right. The name ruby derives from the Latin word 'ruber', simply translating to red.
