About this Lepidolite bracelet

Lepidolite is one of the few crystals named for what's actually in it: lithium, the same element used in modern mood stabilisers. The stone has been valued in contemporary crystal traditions as a tactile aid for winding the nervous system down at the end of the day.

University students in Reduit reach for it during the November exam push; Ebene professionals wear it on the long commute home; mothers wear it through the witching hour. Each bracelet is handcrafted in our Pointe aux Sables atelier with knot work meant to outlast the elastic core. 2187.

History

Lepidolite was originally discovered in the eighteenth century and initially named lilalite for its distinctive lavender hue. It was later renamed lepidolite from the Greek word 'lepis', meaning scale, referring to its flaky mica structure. As a natural ore of lithium, the mineral has been historically collected for its calming aesthetic, though its widespread use in traditional spiritual practices is a relatively modern phenomenon compared to classical gemstones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is lepidolite OK for daily wear?

Yes, with a small caveat. Lepidolite is softer than amethyst or quartz (Mohs ~3) and can scratch if you bang it against a door frame or a desk edge. Daily wear is fine; rough handling isn't. Take the bracelet off before manual work or sports, and it'll look the same in two years as it did on day one.

How do I cleanse it in our climate?

Skip water entirely — lepidolite is more sensitive to it than most crystals, and our humidity is already hard on the cord. Wipe the lilac beads with a dry microfibre cloth. For energetic cleansing, rest the bracelet on a soft moonlight overnight, or on a small dish of dry brown rice.

Will the lilac colour fade over time?

Lepidolite is mica-bearing and can lose a touch of saturation under prolonged direct sun — months on a sunny dashboard, not minutes on a balcony. Normal daily wear and indoor light keep the lilac honest. Store the piece in a small pouch or jewellery box when you aren't wearing it.

Will it scratch my watch or other bracelets?

The other way round, usually — lepidolite is softer than most of what's likely to be on your wrist, so a steel watch or harder stone bracelet will eventually score it. If you stack, place lepidolite on the inside of the stack, closer to the skin, and put any harder bracelet outside it.
