About this Malachite bracelet
The ancient Egyptian stone of profound transformation and energetic protection.
History
Extensively mined in the Sinai Peninsula by ancient Egyptians as early as 4000 BCE, malachite was traditionally ground into pigment for cosmetic eyeshadow and painted on amulets to ward off the evil eye. The Russian czars later used massive quantities of the banded green stone to construct the elaborate columns of St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg. The name originates from the Greek word 'malache', referring to the deep green leaves of the mallow plant.
