About this Sodalite bracelet
Sodalite was prized in the early twentieth century as an interior stone for libraries and writing rooms — the deep blue reads as serious without being sombre, which is why it ended up in so many panelled studies. In contemporary crystal tradition the stone is associated with logic, careful articulation, and the kind of focus that holds through a long argument.
Teachers across the island wear it through term; lawyers wear it on court days; analysts wear it through quarterly close. Each bracelet is handcrafted in our Pointe aux Sables atelier — the white calcite veining means we hand-sort strands so the pattern stays graceful across the whole bracelet, not bunched on one side. 2187.
History
Sodalite is a relatively recent discovery compared to ancient gemstones, first officially documented in Greenland in the early nineteenth century. It gained significant prominence in 1891 when large deposits were discovered in Canada, coinciding with a visit from the British royal family, leading to its traditional moniker 'Princess Blue'. The name is a literal reference to its high sodium content, combining 'soda' with the Greek 'lithos' for stone.
